They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much, kid
But if you're troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
Ohhh yeah!
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
All together now!
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me

Gosh school has been such a pithole of nothingness.
Social Studies is officially the worst subject ever. Below Chinese. I'm sorry man. But seriously, who wants to listen to propoganda in school. I understand that yeah, the govt probably wants us to learn the lessons of Venice which is closely paralleled to Singapore (small island, port yaddyadaya). Honestly, don't all these sound like what a future minister would be studying. I'm not interested. Bye politics. So perhaps, the powers that decide could provide me with a choice and spare me the agony of sitting in class trying to get interested so that I can score better. What a waste of productive time.
But on the case of Venice and Social studies, I am like at awe of what these ancient people have done in terms of architecture, finance sector etc. The Giro system. We are still freaking using it now. Architecture. Close to nothing has been as impressive in the same vein of the European buildings. Here we are in the 20th century in wonderment over how these people have been so innovative, amazed over how the pyramids of giza was built etc etc. Maybe instead of all the proclaimed progress we've made, we have instead gone backwards. Surely those people didn't sit around on their butts thinking how wonderful it was that their ancestors have discovered a, b and c and suddenly inspiration hits them and these magnificent ideas and strucutres spring out of the ground. Perhaps, instead of educating us on how important innovation is, maybe teach us to innovate, encourage innovation by providing us with a practical means. And no, I&E fair and carnival do not count. Surely encouragement for a certain thing does not rise from inculcatting in us the advantages of it. We didn't come to love games because our parents told us how great the gore on screen would be for our future. Addiction to the idiot box was not the result of advocating of the benefits of it. It is because we are in contact with it everyday and the packaging for it has been so great everybody wants to have a part in it. Maybe that’s the key.
Bleargh. The structure of our exams is just boring my school life. I hate everybody. Including you.
let your heart out.
School is a pile of mess. Nothing is really going right. I probably flunked Physics. Great. Lalalalala. All the teachers are really just tyrants in disguise. If there was going to be a next world war, the teachers would be the next Hitler. A nation made out of teachers would be the next Japan.
They are such tyrants. What they say will go. What we say will not go. They pretend to give us a voice by setting up a student forum. But matter of fact is that, they think that our suggestions are shit. When it really is what we feel. Combined recess is a failure. No matter what the grand plan behind it was for us to meet up between levels for project. Do they think we would do that? NOOO. In fact, combined recess has sort of become the period where the canteen becomes overcrowded with people, the queues snake all the way to the back. Everybody is hot and bothered, people bring food from home, stallholders earn less. It's such a failure that nobody is happy with it. I doubt most of the teachers are very happy with it either.
Another point of contention: The secondary 1s get on my nerve. SO MUCH. Especially a certain class whose class tee is blue. Ugly bright blue. They cut in front of all the queues, they piss everybody off. They don't even get the hint when people behind them voice out their displeasure, that they should act with decorum, that there ar many people in queue. I don't understand them. Do they think that they can get away with it. If I see another one of them doing it, I will blow my top. Honestly, isn't lining in queue the basic courtesy one should have. Didn't their primary school teachers teach them? Or for that matter of fact their kindergarten teachers. And it is not that we are being snobbish about people cutting queue. Let's see if they dare to cut the queue in a hawker center. They would probably have insults hurled at them. And being the delicate little flowers or 'jade' that they are, they would probably crumble under the insults. Being courteous, thinking of others and apparently street smart, is not their forte.
The forum just brought my irritation out again. The prefects were annoying everybody with their 'you are acknowledged'. ??? Well, maybe i'm too dense to realise that that's the proper way a forum is suppossed to be conducted in. But that's beside the point. When we bring up something that we feel should be changed, such as the common recess and the classrooms being locked up, they feel compelled to explain their actions, in a tone that was embellished with irritation and their mindset that they are right just shone through.
The most irritating thing was the locked up classrooms. If classrooms in primary schools can be left open, why can't it be left open in secondary schools? Don't tell me we as secondary school pupils cannot conduct ourselves properly and not steal other's properties? I'm sure we can. Maybe it is true that Singaporeans will never become a nation with grace. Hah. If we at 16 cannot do it, how can we do it when we as adults have already become cynical.
